While Painting for over fifteen years, my love of color began as a child. My love of art began many years ago while taking classes in school. I began my college career as an Art Major but switched to Elementary Education.
Much later in life after raising two sons and retiring to New Bern, NC, I studied under the guidance of national and local artists from Florida to the Carolinas. I continue to study with other artists to learn more about the techniques of painting while developing my personal style.
In my initial work, I painted realistically using watercolor. A few years later, I began to experiment with acrylics. It was then that my studies led me to the abstract format. Slowly, I have discovered the secret of my art which consists of meditation on color. By working in a nonobjective format, I have the ability to combine my love of color with informality of form to express the style I paint in while revising my intentions. My themes present different phases of my studies which are evolving and progressive. I am always open to change. What emerges on canvas is experimental and influenced by color, texture, shape and line.
