Michaele has been a mixed media artist for over 30 years.
She began her career as an apprentice under the tutelage of Al Chalmers Beck,
at Chalmers Stained Glass in Jupiter Florida. She went on to open and operate
her own custom stained glass studio, The Crystal Lady Inc., focusing on
residential, commercial and ecclesial commissions for over 18 years.
She also makes custom jewelry and three-dimensional
sculptures in glass, semi-precious stones and metals. She is a successful
painter and has sold many works.
Michaele has both an Associate in arts and Associates in
Fine Arts Degrees. She has recently completed her Bachelors in Fine Arts, at
East Carolina University with a concentration in Ceramics.
Her work is about how humans change Nature. I take objects
of Nature apart and rebuild her forms to better serve human needs. Humans have
an innate need to custom tailor all things to their benefit, pleasure and
comfort. As humans, we value life on a scale of importance according to our
rules, not Nature’s rules. As an artist, I value life beyond blood and breath.
I believe all things on Planet Earth carry life and understanding.
Sometimes we are not always mindful of our actions and how
they carry a very different message to the ecosystems that share Earth with us.
It is important to be aware of how we walk on our path. Our walk holds
different meanings, different values for those who live on our path.
As our numbers increase, so does our neediness to redefine
Earth’s life forms to suit our image, our needs. We expect Nature to adapt to
the perfectness of us.
